Requirements for the application

There are a couple of restrictions: applicants may not be married or engaged and may not have previously studied in the USA for more than four months. Good academic results from upper-secondary school are required.

Age limit

Applicants must be born no earlier than 1 August 2002 and no later than 31 July 2009 for a scholarship for the 2027–2028 school year – that is, at least 18 and at most 24 years old when the study year begins on 1 August (no exceptions!). Unlike most other Rotary scholarships, the Georgia scholarships are also open to children of Rotarians.

Costs

The Rotary Youth Exchange Foundation charges an application fee of SEK 1,000 which you pay via Swish 123 628 33 94 in good time, so that the fee is in the bankgiro account by 15 August 2026.

Application

In the application you fill in everything except point 4 under Section II (the tests) and point 1 under Section III (Rotary Club Endorsement) – that is completed by the Rotary club after an interview. Attach the documents you wish to cite; the most recent upper-secondary certificate is mandatory. The documents do not need to be translated, but feel free to request the teacher references in English from the outset.

Only the 15 finalists need to take the TOEFL and SAT 1 tests. They are held at fixed times during the autumn and must be completed by 31 October 2026. Addresses and contact details for the test institutes are available online.

To make processing easier, you should fill in the separate form Concentrated record of merits (see Information) with grade-point average/comparison figure and the merits cited. Fill in the form on screen and then print it out.
